Skills Development Activity: Resume Activity, Part II

  • Teach basics of interviews: why they are important and what to expect

  • Conduct a demo interview and have students identify positive and negative elements

  • Give interview handouts to review during mentoring session

  • Ensure students are aware of business professional dress code for mock interviews in Session #3

Virtue Talk: Fortitude

  • To illustrate, with the help of historical examples, the attractiveness and necessity of fortitude in having a fulfilling life. 

  • To convince students of the value and effectiveness of the monthly goals sheet. Whether they achieve their goals depends, to a large extent, on fortitude.

Out-of-class work

  • Discuss and complete mentor worksheet.

  • For Sophomores only:

    • Begin preparing for the PSAT, which is administered in October of junior year. The Princeton Review’s Cracking the SAT/PSAT is excellent.

  • For Juniors only:

    • Solidify plans for studying for and taking the PSAT/SAT.
