< April: Never Quitting

may: what makes you happy?

Main Points of Class

  • Happiness is the main goal of every person’s life; if you do not have a correct and clear idea of what makes you happy, you will not be able to direct your own life and make good choices.

  • What are the four levels of happiness?

    1. External goods and immediate physical gratification or pleasures

    2. Being admired by others

    3. Dedicating oneself to the good of those around you

    4. Friendship with God and with others for the love of God

  • Happiness is found primarily in contributing to the good of those around you (family, friends, one’s country, the whole world, and, ultimately, God).

  • You possess the goods to which you dedicate (give) yourself. If you just look out for yourself, you end up with very little happiness.

In-class Activity: The Grade Banquet

  • The Grade Banquet is the final activity of the year. Its purpose is somewhat practical, but the main intention is to give the young men an opportunity to bring what they’ve learned throughout the year to the fore and to celebrate the conclusion of the year.

Out-of-class work

  • Review the Summer Goals Sheet, and finalize any remaining plans for the summer

Mentoring

  • Complete a Monthly Goals Sheet.
